S4 Biturbo gearbox on S2 ABY Coupé...?

Heard that the S4 Biturbo gearbox is bolt on on an S2 ABY... Is that true? Perfect fit without any hussle? I do know that there is a seperate oil cooler for the S4 biturbo gearbox but that can't be a bad thing?

The reason for the change is a broken original gearbox. So I do need to change it and a S4 biturbo gearbox just turned up on the sales market.

Direct replacement - I used the S4 (DSY) 6 speed tranny in my S2 - engined type 85 with no problems. The oil cooler can be a Mocal 13 row unit mounted in the front bumper (near side behind the lower grilles.

I think the internals are beefed up on the DSY unit (looked on FA, internal shaft has different part number). The addition of an oil cooler can only be a good thing.

Sweet dude! How much torque does the BiT come with original? How much power have you ran this gearbox at?

if the car have 5 syl,ALL gearboxes will fit on the engine,details will be changed like the gearshift unit,clutch and flywheel and so on,but it will fit in.after 1992 the cars have same boltpattern to the blocks....remember the correct gearcoding in FRONT and rear!!!!!

Have done some searching. Are there two different S4 BiT gearboxes? DSY and EDU? I also read this at a forum:

Only a few cars used the hardened 1st.
The DSY has a 105J which is wide and not hardened.
Look at ver 6 of ETKA and look at 99 S4.

Couse i guess one would want the wide and hard one. But in what gearbox is that? Seems like the RS4 one is different then the S4 one? Wouldnt be good to my ABY?

Wich indicates that it might not be a straight fit. But if delta have mounted one and says its bolt on I guess that it should be considered as reliable information. =) So seems like maybe santa has to bring me an S4 gearbox for x-mas.

My last power output was 426 PS / 411 ft / lbs.

Hmmm how about 3b engines then? Direct fit more or less? What would need to be changed?

DElta, Do you have any comments on those links i posted? Where some ppl report problems fiting the S4 BiT gearbox. SOme bolt that dosn´t line up and some other problems.

Another thing I was thinking about was the proctoten-system. The S4 gearbox doesn't have that little guide for the proctoten cables, right? Would I jeopardise the safty alot when removing the proctoten-system? I mean if it's connected to something vital in some way...?
